A Great Day

I haven't really done alot these holidays thus far other then work, which is a little disappointing but yesterday I managed to have a great day. I woke up to find that I had passed all my uni subjects, which is awesome considering I thought I was going to fail one, possibly two. My GPA dropped a little, I'm now sitting on 5.167 from the once mighty 5.75, so this semester I have made a decision to knuckle down and get the GPA nudging higher. I just worked out in my boredom that even if I average a 6 for the next three semester's the highest GPA I can get is 5.58 and with an average of 7, I can get a 6.08. Looks like I'll be flat out for the next year and a bit smile

After the results, Benji rode over, set his ipod to sync with my music then we headed out with my trusty Shell footy on our adventure. A few years ago I used to be heavily into BMX and it wasn't until Friday night when I was talking to a mate at work that I realised I missed it, so today I was keen to set out and hit up some old trails that were floating around. First stop though was for Benji to collect some monies for web hosting from Mark. I haven't seen Mark since high school so it was a good, quick, random catch up that involved some random banter about toll booths and clogging the Gateway with a synchronised convoy of cars paying in 10c pieces.

Once all was said and done, Benji collected his money and I pumped up my tires when hooned down Nottingham Road where we proceeded to race down the footpath... without pedalling. So basically this required us to act like cyclists and squat to get the most aerodynamic position. It was pretty even for a bit there, but then Benji's black bullet pulled away leaving me in the dust. We eventually reached our first destination at Ackama Street jumps, which are quite small and pathetic, and after doing the same thing a few times we decided to head to Parry (Paradise Road) to check out the monsters there.

Again, lots of random banter on the way, including why is a dog park built next to a primary school. I can just imagine a kid and Rottwieler facing off and which one would end up victorious. When we got to Parry there was this huge truck coming down the highway, so being the geeks we are, we pretended it was Optimus Prime and starting riding away and hiding behind this mounds of pebbles, dirt and grass acting all scared. Well I did, Benji just rode behind the rock and watched Optimus go past, I go off my bike and leaned onto the mound. The truck past, I grew up about 10 years and then we rode into Parry. The jumps are just fucking gigantic in there, Benji positioned himself for a few great photos then we started to explore the area.

There was these small path that led to a mini cliff with a creek running through the forest so was ditched our bikes and went off on an Indiana Jones trek down the path. The creek was a bit wider then I hoped, so I had Benji get his camera ready incase I owned myself into the water, but I managed to summon enough athleticism to jump the void and continue. We reached this clearing that was littered with rubbish.. and tennis balls. I took one as a souvenir then we started to climb this cliff face to see what was on the other side. Benji nearly destroyed himself by mounting up a tree which nearly collapsed and I managed to start the climb when we heard a mixture of noises. Voices, machines and like a whistle or something. I looked at Benji and then we bailed. I have never ran so fast I don't think, I was like an Indian jumping over logs and ducking under branches, I even cleared the mighty creek with one super jump before I stopped to see where Benji was. I just heard a splash, he had fallen into the creek smile I started laughing whilst he told me of the trail of destruction I left behind with trees and branches falling and dirt spraying up everywhere. We decided to leave once with retrieved our bikes and admired the view a little bit longer.

It was time to put the Shell footy to good use, so we stopped in at Col Bennet Park and started kicking it around before we started a game of forscee backs. Wow, how do you even spell that game, you know the one with the footy kicking back and forth to get past the point and if you catch it you can take ten steps towards your goal or bank it. That's the game we played after I taught Benji the rules. IT was good fun and we discovered how old and unfit we are. I was so close to winning but Benji's catching abilities gave him 30 steps which he used and then booted the ball home to claim victory.

Rooted and tired, we rode towards Action to get some supplies. On the way I called Mum to let her know I didn't need dinner as we had an awesome Sizzler plan brewing. Benji stocked up on lollies and drinks and then we started to great trail trek again riding towards to the back of these nursing homes. As we rode down the trail we passed a bunch of young kids all hanging around their bikes. We didn't think anything of it and continued to ride around and scope the area out. Bored, I decided to head back to where the kids were and these old school rocket jumps. I rode down the little valley to check out which rocket I wanted to do when disaster struck. I popped my tire somehow! The kids came over to ask if I popped my tire as they all did as well. Me and Benji sorta giggled for a bit here, 5 kids all with popped tires. Anyway, turns out that some fuckstains decided that placing spike strips at the base of the jumps would be a good way to protect them. Raging up for awhile, we threw the spike strips into the bush and then pondered what to do next.

We bonded with the kids for awhile, who provided much amusement. They scabbed lollies off us and told us weird stories. The mannerisms of one kid were fucking priceless and I'll never forget when I asked them all if they had tube repairs kits. Each one of them stood up proudly and was like "I DO!" and then they'd follow it with a dejected "but my tire is popped too.." before stepping away to allow the next kid to repeat the same actions. One grilled me about my choice of bike, so I asked him about his and replied "MONGOOSE, BECAUSE IT'S PRO". I cracked up. Benji and I asked if Action sold tubes to which the 'leader' replied, "YES, we could buy tubes, but we have no money...shit". You know when Napoleon Dynamite does his infamous 'gosh!' thing, the kid repeated that when he said '..shit', making it a classic moment. I called Mum in the end and she set off to retrieve me and the bike. To entertain us during the wait we watched these egotistical kids do some funky tricks and stuff off the rockets.

When I got home I jumped in Dev to pick Benji up to buy a new tube for my bike. On the way to Big W we cruised to The Smashing Pumpkins which is so old school and great chillout music. Once inside Big W we raided layby to find Danman there. Random banter before we left to get our tube because his boss was rapidly approaching. We then went back to layby where he processed our sale and then chatted to him about Sizzler that night whilst I ensured he gave me the biggest bag possible to put my tiny tube into. We managed to convince his supervisor to let him finish early, but then he was yelled at by his other one for not serving other customers. It would seem that a queue 5 deep had formed behind us chatterboxes. We left him to deal with the other customers and then just randomly sussed out other things in Big W to buy before deciding we should leave.

Upon driving home I got really bored and thought it would be fun to stalk this poor kid on his bike with the car. Eventually I pulled up level with him and then just let rip 'YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' and sped off around the corner. Benji nearly died in his sickness from laughing and choking. It was great. I drove straight past Benji's house in hope that we could find more random kids to suprise and shock, but it was getting dark so they were all inside. However, we did manage to find Yank's brother outside his house putting the rubbish out so we had a grand chat with him for a bit. His Mum came home in the end and as we were blocking his driveway we thought it was our cue to leave.

With Benji dropped home, I headed to mine and got ready for Sizzler. We had a fairly random group of people going, including myself, Josh, Benji, Cam and then Mel and Lynita, who we haven't seen in ages! Sizzler was great, food was good and me and Benji discovered that pineapple in soft drink tastes beautiful. It's like a fizzy fruity flavour, so damn good. Infact, so good that we have plans to create a Vodka infused pineapple. Adam came down to Sizzler after his ref training and had a feed and caught up with us. After we finished demolishing the salad bar, rumor had it that Boden and Kelly were at the bowling alley so we ventured forth to discover the rumor was actually fact. Everyone mingled for a bit as we watched two drunk guys attempt to put every ball in the centre down one alley. They got three racks through before management kicked them out.

I'm pretty sure that concludes the great day. In parting, go see Transformers, I have seen it twice and loved it even though I don't like, or know for that fact, anything about Transformers tongue

It's cold, I'm sitting here in my computer chair sorta bleakly staring at the screen through tired eyes while my nose continues to drip into not only the back of my throat which sorta negates my taste buds, but also from the front, like a leaky fucking tap.

I can't sleep, as a river of shit pools in the back of my throat which needs to be swallowed to allow me to keep living, oh and yeah, that lovely sickly tastebud rip everyone knows and loves happens at every hesitant swallow. Sigh, I fucking hate winter, only 2 months of it to go luckily.

I was sleeping well, then wham, shit fucking cold comes my way. I've already done the due thing of sending messages off to the other Brodie's senior kitchenhands (read, all one of them) in hope they'll work tonight, so I can hopefully try to stay awake until I just collapse asleep and through sheer survival instinct, I manage to someone clear my throat from the pool of shit whilst still staying asleep.

I've even gone as far to SMS 1st Choice about my Wednesday night shift. I feel a few shit days coming on. Thursday is my day off, from both jobs, which is a rare dime and dozen and I was planning to celebrate by hitting the town with Benji, but I doubt that in my current condition. This leads me up to 4pm Friday, where my uber weekend of work (27 hours) will start.

Yuck, I just managed to have my first sip of the only fucking thing in the house that may soothe my throat, green tea, and it's foul. I can't tell whether it's normally this rancid, or just that my tastes have seized.

I haven't blogged in awhile, nothing really worthy to be honest. I have managed to finish my third semester of uni, which brings me to halfway through my course. That's exciting, but scary also to think about, as this time next year, I should be thinking about full time, like, career style jobs. I think I managed to pass every subject, I'm still a bit paranoid about one of them though. I'm expecting my GPA to drop again from the once mighty 5.75 to 5.16, which is still 'good', but not where I'd like to be. Next semester I'm planning to put a bit more effort in, and with Benji having being accepted into TAFE, I think I'll have a bit more motivation to endure the shitty bus ride in.

In the time it's taken to write that paragraph I've managed to offer my throat some sort of sugary relief by sucking on a chico so that the chocolaty caramel goodness coats my throat. It's working, but the bag of chico's is running dangerously low, so I'm going to have to seek alternative methods of relief soon enough.

I have been filling in the time around uni with work, and alot of it. I'm doing about 40 hours a week between the two jobs, and it's nice to have that little bit extra money each week. You feel alot more free and unrestricted and I can be a little bit less anal about spending each week. Since my Megadeth CD came out last month, I have been spending about $50 a week at JB increasing my CD collection which is good, I enjoy my music so don't have any regrets about buying CD after CD.

The Thursday, or Wednesday, I don't remember, of last week saw myself, Yeatsie, Kyle and Benji endure the second Fantastic Four movie. Yes, I say endure as in, it was boring and Alba's ass did not make an appearance till the very end, and even so, it wasn't enough to make the movie 'worth it'. Stick with Into the Blue for Alba juiciness.

I've actually watched a few movies lately. Wayne's World, which was meh, I did however like parts, but as a whole not the greatest. Waiting is ok, very raw in a Clerks-esque sort of way, but again, great parts, but meh on the whole. Van Wilder 2 continues this trend, great parts, but meh overall. Maybe I'm just a terrible critic? I doubt it, because Clerks 2 and Employee of the Month were both fucking fantastic! I highly recommend both.

Sitting here my nose is starting to dry up, but throat is continuing to pool with nasties unhappy

Ergh, oh, Friday night saw the boys and random invited guests (that be the girls and Lt. Dan (now 18 smile)) head out to the Dockside Comedy Club for Yank's 19th. Sadly, the comedian's were nowhere near as funny as the previous times I've been and as a result, saw the group sorta split at the end of the night with only Benji, Mudos and Lt. Dan partying on in the town. The rest of us went home to do whatever the cool kids do. I slept, so obviously I'm so very current, cool and hip.

On the Saturday night I joined Yeatsie, Yank and Kyle in the city to wind down abit after realising I didn't start work until 3pm the next day, and wanting to watch the New Zealand vs South Africa rugby match. I got Dad to drive me into the city with a 4pk of Smirnoff Double Blacks as pre drinks thanks to cheapness at 1st Choice. I met the kids at the Vic, which was good fun, then we moved to Union Jacks, which was awesome, then the night ended really. Yank drove us to the Valley for some unknown reason, then bailed home cause of sickness/tiredness/boredom so we walked back to the city, in fact from The Mustang Bar to Irish Murphy's to finish watching the rugby and so I could be danced to by some old women who appreciated me being able to sing Led Zeppelin. Eventually, the 130 was caught, Blake was a saviour with Amy and Dani and managed to drive me the last leg of my journey home, and I crashed, disappointed of the night that could of been had we stayed in the city, but oh well, plenty more times.

Twenty minutes have passed since I started typing this. I hope it doesn't fuck up, it'd be a waste of time, but I guess I've got nothing better to do. I'm contemplating what to do next and right now reading Harry Potter all over again is beating out strumming guitar. I think my parents would be proud of that decision. However, because I'm a dangerous motherfucker, I think I'll play a bit of GTA:SA first, just to tire the senses out a bit more, with luck..

Until next time when I can't sleep and need to pass some time,

I've finished uni, well sorta, still have half an assignment to do (14th) and 3 exams (19/20/21) so that leaves plenty of time to procrastinate then cram at the last minute. Apart from that I've been working heaps, which is good for the old bank account and JB. I think I'm up to 18 cd's in 21 days which isn't a bad effort on my behalf smile

In other news, on Tuesday I took the kids (benji and mudos) down to get their learner's. In a horrible day of jinx, mudos fucked it up by having 'To The Left' in his head, which really doesn't help when you have to give way to the right. Benji managed to scam his though, and after waiting for his snapshot and reading through the homosexual new driving laws, we set sail for the coast to book our holiday home.

After an uneventful drive down listening to Linkin Park and Guns n' Roses and being attacked by killer lorikeets, we made our way to the Oasis shopping center carpark, which is really the engineering works of Dr Suess or something, it's a fucking maze in there. We wandered around looking for the real estate agent and eventually found it and went on to book the place. In January -> Feburary, myself, Benji, Yank and Kyle are offically living at the coast 100m from the beach, go team happy

We booked the house, then went to nandos for lunch. Nando's never fails to satisfy Benji's peri peri fetish. I always get the grilled chicken wrap, which tastes great but I guess I should try something new next time. After eating we headed back to Dev to go to Robina to hit up JB for some cd's and what not. Not this time, turns out jinx was after us and Dev wouldn't start. RACQ to the rescue, yet again. Turns out the fuel pump has died in Dev and has to be replaced resonably quickly. The champion bloke just belted the fuel tank with a mallet and she worked wonders again, but needless to say I have Dev booked in at the car dealer next Tuesday to get repaired (FREE! This is the perk of a dealer bought car wink).

The adventure to Robina JB had to be cancelled because me and Benji had to go to work, so we ended the day by pumping Lostprophets and cruising home. Just as we approach Smith Street, we notice a van literally rocking about. Turns out this random fucking dude was blasting techno and was dancing away like a club in his van. Definitely a highlight. He rocks up next to this van of girls and trys dancing his way to a number, I think he lucked out. Haha.

This blog is written very poorly, my brain just hasn't clicked with me at all today, for example, I wanted a drink before, so I go downstairs and make ice cream then come upstairs again. I sit down infront of the computer and go to drink my ice cream, then suddenly my brain kicks in again and just goes 'what the fuck'. I have no recollection of making the ice cream, and I still was thirsty. Haha, I'm going crazy!
